Alright humans listen up because I’ll only say this once! My time as you all know is short and precious. So take a read of these and don’t listen to Wazowski, and we’ll get along just fine. I’m sure.

GENERAL RULES
The Laugh Floor is a 13+ RP set in the Monsters Inc. universe after the film’s epilogue, and the tv series “Monsters at Work”. A total of 6 years have passed, setting the RP in 2007, as such you can update characters as you see fit.
The Laugh Floor has a zero-tolerance policy on bullying, flaming, or general deplorable behavior. Have respect for your fellow players and most of all, yourself. We are LGBTQ+ positive and inclusive, and will not discriminate based on sexuality, gender identity, race, or disability. Feel you're being bullied or pressured? Contact an admin! We will gladly step in and take whatever action necessary.
When you are registering first make an OOC account with ALL CAPS. You can then proceed to make your character accounts with PROPER CAPS.
CHARACTER CREATION
As of this moment we take place in the monster world - and as such our main player character are first and foremost MONSTERS. That said we have 10 spots currently open among the group of kidnapped human children. These will be on a first come, first serve basis. Additionally MARY GIBBS/BOO is also available to claim should you feel so inclined.
All human characters should have an ANIMATED FACE CLAIM allowing you to make your human child as young or old as you want. Just bare in mind the age the typical child ceases to believe in monsters. On the topic of face claims, you have the option to also draw your character, or have none. The same goes for monsters - though CGI monsters of any kind or hand drawn ones. Just be sure to credit the artist!
This should go without saying, but Mary Sues and Gary Stus will be fed to Randall.
As of now everyone legally runs on LAUGH POWER. With both the scarer title and profession being officially retired. JOKESTERS being the main profession monsters aspire to be. That said, if you are working for the mysterious FEAR organization behind the current mess you definitely are a SCARER albeit illegally. Please see the “member groups” for further information.
We accept both original and canon characters from all parts of the franchise. Original direct relations or significant others to canon characters are up to a canon character’s discretion. With the exception of course of “unseen” canons such as Sulley’s father. Please consult with a canon player on the subject first.
We have no cap on canon characters currently. But I do ask you don't "canon sit" and make every single major canon. Leave some for the others. The cap on human characters is however set at one per player given how few we allow. That said you are allowed as many original monster characters as you'd like. So long as you can handle it and keep them up!
We have a FREEFORM application, which means we only have a few required fields. That said, we do ask you give the admins enough to read and get an idea of what your character is like! Please wait for an admin to approve your character before starting off into The Laugh Floor" itself. Our head admin works full time, but will get to it before you know it!
Currently Monsters Inc. is the only “factory” that will be given a special board/category. This may change in the future as our site slowly grows and prospers. That said, until then, you are more than welcome to make members of other factories so long as you’re ok with this. Rivals are always fun!
IN-CHARACTER RULES
At The Laugh Floor we have absolutely no word count but do ask that you give your partner enough to work with. Whether you can do it in a few sentences or a few paragraphs.
Please do not god mode, power play, or any of the usual huge "no"s. You do not control any character's thoughts and actions other than your own.
Additionally, we ask that members post a total of twice per month to be counted as active. Having a really tough month? Emergency come up and you just simply can't post? That's fine! We also believe that roleplaying is first and foremost for fun! Just let a member of our staff know and we will happily overlook it. Activity Checks will be conducted when the staff sees fit or finds it necessary.
All actions have consequences you're welcome to make your character as big a jerk, or as kind a saint as you'd like. Just know that other characters and events will act upon such actions. Any major consequences - such as character death, imprisonment, or anything super negative should be agreed upon by all parties involved. Admins will only step in when and if we see fit.
We run on fluid time. As such, you may post in multiple threads, but should keep a relatively steady timeline. As such we will temporarily be asking players DATE THEIR POSTS. The site is set in the current real-life month, so this should be a relatively easy system.
All content on site should be PG-13 to go alongside the guidelines set forth by Proboards. Please clearly mark any TRIGGER WARNINGS while making sure any triggering subjects are being used in a tasteful, well-researched manner.
CHAT AND DISCORD RULES
Please bare in mind, while in either chat ALL OUT OF CHARACTER RULES APPLY. Things are allowed to be a little more open in the chat, but we do ask that we don't bring up politics and keep talk of religion to a minimum. As both are known to cause a lot of difference of opinion and disagreement. Whereas this should be, by all means, a safe space for all.
We ask you do not advertise in the Cbox. Chatting about other forums in the discord is fine. But any linking or prolonged discussions should be taken to PM in order to keep the chat as on topic as humanly possible!
